Lakeview Jasmine Tree
2 are growing as standard trees.
Lakeview jasmine tree. I do always bring them in the house during the winter i live in virginia beach. Lakeview jasmine is a small tropical evergreen tree that produces glossy foliage and highly scented white flowers during the year in warm climates. I pruchased a lakeview or could have been called lakeland jasmine tree about 10 years ago. It is reported that this plant is primarily used for hedgeprivacy plantings but plants can be selected and pruned to form specimen evergreen tree forms standards.
The trees were tall about 6 ft or taller when i purchased them. Sadly my plant of many years died. In cold climates this plant can be grown in containers and given protection. It has smooth bark pinnate leaves with up to seven egg shaped to elliptical leaflets fragrant white or cream coloured flowers and oval orange red berries containing hairy seeds.
Its hard to choose but among our top most favorite small trees dwarf rated 10 12 feet at maturity is the lakeview jasmine. Only have had them for 3 years but they are doing nicely. The tree is a murraya paniculata variously known as orange jasmine or orange jessamine or box orange chinese box etc. In florida they call it lakeview jasmine.
I have 3 lakeview jasmines in my landscaping. I have a suspicion why but i wont tell. You see by the photo above its intense blooming but what you dont know is the scent is sooooooo close to the orange blossom blindfolded youd be totally fooled. With an intoxicating sweet fragrance from its blossoms the lakeview jasmine tree is a popular landscape addition in usda zones 9 to 11.
Would any of you have accessibility to cuttings or do you have a nursery you could recommend that carries lakeview. Murraya paniculata commonly known as orange jasmine orange jessamine china box or mock orange is a species of shrub or small tree in the family rutaceae and is native to south asia southeast asia and australia. A lakeview jasmine tree can grow in a variety of soil types as long as it drains well and is between 64 and 73 ph value. Both of them passed away this winter.
