Orchid Watering
Here are some fixes to common watering issues.
Orchid watering. Sometimes despite your best efforts your orchid may fail to thrive. This is so that the plant has the rest of the day to soak up the water as well as the sun and before the soil gets too warm. Potted orchids require special watering that mimics their natural environment. The best and only time you should water orchids is in the morning.
Special orchid watering problems. Nighttime watering allows water to stagnate in the growing tips of phalaenopsis or the flower sheaths of cattleyas. A good way to diagnose the problem is to look at the roots. Orchid plants should never be allowed to sit in still water.
Water orchids sparingly when their soil is almost dry. Use lukewarm water do not use salt softened or distilled water. Orchids are popular as houseplants and wonderful varieties can be found in nurseries and garden centers. No matter what kind of orchid you grow always water in the morning.
Water your orchid early in the morning. The best place to water your plant is in the kitchen sink. In the wild orchids grow on trees and their roots are exposed to sun and air and water. This insures complete water evaporation on the foliage as well as the crown by nightfall.
In many cases the plant should completely dry between waterings.
